The mission of the Institution of Engineering and Technology is to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community to engineer a better world.
For 151 years, the IET has pursued this mission, and with 169,000 members in more than 150 countries, it will continue to do so long into the future.
In 2021 the IET undertook a massive refurbishment of its head office in Stevenage.
The project involved making structural changes to the layout of the building to create a more inspiring work and meeting environment.
The IET employs more than 1500 people, a large chunk of whom work in head office.
Add members who use headquarters for meetings and attending conferences and events, and you have an idea of how busy this building can get.
You can also understand the need for clear signage around the building.
However, the “new” building was bare of any signage when the refurbishment was complete.
The old directional and room signs disappeared as they no longer applied to the new layout.
Our brief was to install new Wayfinding signage in offices, meeting rooms and catering areas.
We also produced and installed many colourful graphics in various shapes and sizes.
You can see examples in the images on this page.
Each one adds brightness to the environment and stimulates creativity and, in many cases, some humour.
